Mpongwe Area, Copperbelt Province – Zambia: If you are an experienced, well-grounded farm manager with knowledge in potato production this position could befor you.
Please note that, due to the remote location of the farm and the lifestyle associated with the role, this position is best suited to candidates for whom the location and living arrangements are a good fit.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A bachelor& degree or diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Farm Management.
- 3 to 5 years of practical potato farming.
- Expertise in the full potato crop cycle, including planting, hilling, pest and disease management and harvesting.
- Ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery like tractors, planters, sprayers, and potato harvesters.
- Proficiency in managing center-pivot systems.
- Experience in packing for cold storage and managing cold storage facility, ensuring quality in storage
- Valid driver’s license
- Certifications in pesticide application or farm safety.
- Skills in budgeting, cost control, and supply chain negotiation.
- Ability to hire, train, and supervise seasonal and permanent field crews.
- Capacity to work long, irregular hours during peak planting and harvesting seasons, often in difficult weather.
