Underberg Area – KZN: Our client is looking for a Farm Manager to join the team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Matric.
- Agricultural Diploma/Degree advantageous.
- Min of 3 -5 years previous livestock husbandry & cropping experience.
- Computer literate.
- Attention to detail, reliable & honest.
- Ability to adapt and work in potentially challenging conditions and situations.
- Horse-riding an advantage.
- Must have sober habits and be willing to work long hours & weekends when on shift/ when needed.
- Must speak Zulu & be good team worker, self-driven & motivated.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Responsible for herd & flock health:
- Ability to diagnose and effectively treat potential issues & run dosing & drug programme.
- Understanding of feedlots, shearing, reproductive programs & animal nutritional requirements.
- Produce bales, silage & mix feed, and monitor usage.
- Monitor herd fertility, including vet runs for fertility testing & AI of stud sheep.
- Basic knowledge of fencing and machinery repairs an advantage.
- Experience in fire burning & veld management.
- Being mechanically & maintenance orientated.
- Ability to cull vermin an advantage.
- Ability to drive JD sprayers, planters, tractors & combine harvesters an advantage.
- Flexible approach to work, happy to fill in where the team needs him.
- Must be professional, energetic and diligent with a good work ethic essential.
