Brits Area – North West: Our client is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join the team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Qualified Diesel/Petrol Mechanic (Trade Test preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an agricultural or workshop environment.
- Valid driver’s license (Code 8/10); Code 14 and PDP advantageous.
- Familiarity with farming implements and irrigation systems preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to diagnose and repair diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics, and transmissions.
- Welding, fabrication, and electrical fault-finding experience advantageous.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and high standards of workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance on tractors, bakkies, trucks, implements, and irrigation pumps.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults and perform corrective repairs.
- Ensure that all maintenance and repair work is completed timeously and documented.
- Keep accurate service and repair records for all equipment and vehicles.
- Manage and maintain workshop tools, equipment, and consumables.
- Assist in sourcing parts and liaising with suppliers for quotations and deliveries.
- Support field breakdowns and perform on-site repairs as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the workshop area at all times.
- Comply with all farm safety regulations and use PPE appropriately.
- Report repeated faults, equipment misuse, or negligence to management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance systems and schedules.
