Kyankwanzi area – Uganda: These commercial cattle (Boran & Brahman) enterprise is seeking an experienced Farm manager to join their team.
Due to the location on the farm this position would suit a single person or a couple with no kids.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Agricultural Diploma/Degree.
- Previous feedlot management essential.
- Minimum of 3 years previous livestock management experience.
- Pasture Management experience.
- Excellent stockman ship.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to AI.
- Maintenance orientated.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with and motivate a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid passport.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pasture Management:
- Develop and maintain rotational grazing systems, optimize carrying capacity, and manage water and fencing infrastructure.
Feedlot Operations:
- Oversee feeding regimes, pen management, finishing schedules, and achieve 5 cattle/day slaughter output.
Breeding & Reproduction (AI):
- Supervise breeding programs including Artificial Insemination, genetic selection, and record-keeping.
Herd Health Management:
- Implement disease prevention, vaccination, deworming, and tick control programs; liaise with veterinary services.
Technology Adoption:
- Introduce and use digital livestock management tools and data-driven production systems.
Team Supervision:
- Lead and train farm workers, ensuring best practices and productivity.
Reporting & Budgeting:
- Track herd performance, manage input costs, and submit regular reports to management.
