
Mkushi area, Central Province – Zambia: This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual ready to take full ownership of our row and cereal cropping enterprise within an ever-changing regenerative agriculture (RA) space.
This position is open to candidates with families.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years or more of agricultural experience on a large-scale commercial cropping operation.
- A sound, practical understanding of agronomy across fertilization, irrigation, planting, crop protection and harvesting.
- A high level of self-motivation and a very strong work ethic, with the resilience to perform under sustained seasonal pressure.
- Proven ability to plan, allocate and manage a large labour force.
- Practical mechanical knowledge would be an advantage on the arable side (note: mechanical repairs and equipment maintenance are handled by our full-time workshop manager).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Full agronomic management of our double-season row and cereal cropping production — seed maize, commercial maize, commercial soybeans and wheat, with the possibility of barley and groundnuts.
- Planning and execution of all field operations, including land preparation, planting, fertilization, irrigation and crop protection.
- Ensuring the timely and accurate application of all inputs throughout the season.
- Managing crop harvesting, grading and delivery.
- Forward planning, job allocation and the management of a large labour force (150 permanent and up to 500 casual labourers during peak periods).
- Organising and coordinating multiple farm operations simultaneously.
- Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to your team members.
