
Mkhushi area, Central Province – Zambia: This is an exciting opportunity for a capable, hands-on individual to take ownership of our livestock enterprise, our perennial crop development, and the farm's broader capital development projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years or more of verified experience in commercial livestock production, feedlotting and largescale herd breeding.
- Demonstrated competency with livestock management software (TrueTest and Bengu Farms, or comparable EID-based platforms).
- Foundational agronomic knowledge or aptitude applicable to perennial tree crop establishment and management (citrus, coffee or similar).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a basic working knowledge of construction.
- Excellent record-keeping and a high level of attention to detail.
- Proven ability to lead, plan for and instruct a large permanent labour force.
- A high level of self-motivation and a very strong work ethic, with the resilience to perform under sustained pressure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Full day-to-day management of the livestock enterprise — grazing, animal health, the feedlot and beef marketing.
- Planning and managing fodder flow and grazing across the herd, including ultra-high-density and strip grazing.
- Managing and planning around the dual summer and winter breeding and calving seasons.
- Running the feedlot system and supplementary feeding programmes in line with the appointed nutritionist.
- Maintaining accurate herd records on the farm's cattle management software (TrueTest and Bengu Farms).
- Working alongside the farm's cattle consultant on breeding, genetics, bull selection and pregnancy diagnosis.
- Providing clear, organised daily instruction to a permanent livestock team of approximately 50.
- Overseeing the establishment phase of the farm's perennial crop development including land preparation, irrigation installation and planting.
- Recruiting, setting up and training a dedicated perennial cropping team as blocks are established.
- As perennial blocks come into production, assuming day-to-day agronomic management of the perennial enterprise, including fertiliser and chemical programmes.
- Overseeing the establishment phase of the farm's other capital development projects, including a new feedlot and new staff housing.
