Barberton area, Mpumalanga province – South Africa: The Farm Manager is expected to be involved in all aspects of farming operations and to undertake practical labour and maintenance tasks, including equipment repairs, irrigation-line maintenance and general troubleshooting. This is a hands-on operational role and not solely a supervisory or management position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- B.Sc. degree or Diploma in Agriculture, preferably related to plant production, is highly preferred.
- A valid standard vehicle driving licence is required; a heavy vehicle driving licence will be advantageous.
- Practical farm experience in harvesting, pruning and fertilisation is desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge and practical mechanical ability will be advantageous.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Upkeep of farm road infrastructure.
- Water reticulation.
- Fence maintenance.
- Fire breaks.
- Dam and pump maintenance.
- Building maintenance.
- Access control.
- Waste management.
- Report to the Director as and when required.
- Oversee maintenance of the three houses on the premises and all other farm buildings.
- Train and supervise farm workers. The Farm Manager is ultimately responsible for the effective execution of all operational activities.
- Keep the asset register accurate and up to date.
